[Music Sharing] Intro to Angela Aki

January 17th, 2007

It has been a long long while since I got into Japanese songs. Last artist I got into was Nakashima Mika, and that was awhile ago. If I listened to J-song, it’s just whatever I’ve from the old times. But, I came across the beautiful…

*** Angela Aki ***

through Final Fantasy XII. I found her being very unique in many ways. First of all, she’s a Japanese-Italian-American mix. Another very strong point about her is a lot of her live performance is basically, a voice and a piano (and no flashy clothing and make-up). I truly enjoy that. She sings very well and something in her voice lets me listen to her repeatedly. She has a very awesome concert called “ONE” in 2006, like I said, with just her voice and a piano. The first time I listened to her Kiss Me Goodbye live in Japanese, she moved me to tears… *blush* (I cannot embed the youtube video because they blocked it). It’s superb compared to the CD version.

Here’s the English version of Kiss Me Goodbye live:

I have to say the Japanese version sounds much better and more emotional to me :P Oh, yeah, another good attribute about Angela is that her English is spoken very well… why so special? Because I always hear English in other Japanese songs that just got butchered…

Anyways, here are some more excellent video of our beloved Angela Aki:

Home - live

Eyes on Me, from Final Fantasy 8 and originally sung by Faye Wong:
(Difficult to compare between the two. They’re just different styles, but Angela’s English is more legible.)
